We've had our 2nd run-in with bad language this week (and ever). I was sitting on the living room floor last night and Landon walked up to me and said "if you don't get off of that cot, your a$$ is gonna burn". I looked at Christopher, he looked at me. He said it clear as a bell. We knew we heard him right but were in disbelief. We asked him to repeat himself and again we heard "if you don't get off of that cot, your a$$ is gonna burn". He doesn't hear words like that from us so we asked where he heard that from. A friend at school. We explained to Landon that word is a potty word. He didn't know that it is a potty word and was genuinely upset that he disappointed us and knew it was wrong. So we told him now that he knows, he will be in big trouble if he uses it again. I also told him about my run-ins with soap in the mouth...
It's so hard trying to raise your child with the values and principals that you want to instill when they are around so many different children from so many different lifestyles, backgrounds, upbringings, beliefs, etc. I know I can't control other children and what they say or do, so I've got to use that as an example to Landon and Carter and teach them how we handle ourselves.
But seriously, I'd love to make that parent's "a$$ burn" - I mean who says that to a 4 year old? Who says that to anyone?
