Thanksgiving 2010

We enjoyed a full day filled with family and food. We started our day at my parent's for lunch and ate WAY TOO MUCH delicious food. Landon and Adam ran around like wild bulls, Gracie got tortured by Landon, and Carter and Jeter did their usual...Jeter tormenting Carter just by looking at him.

We also celebrated Jeter's 1st birthday.

We finished up with dinner at the Bagley's surrounded by loved ones and lots of laughter.

What I'm Thankful For

Thanksgiving is my favorite day of the year...& not just because of the food. That's an added bonus. If you ever taste my step-mama's cooking, you'd be hooked to any day associated with her food. That woman can cook!

I often sit and think about all that God has blessed me with...an amazing husband who I know will love me until the day I die and beyond, the two most beautiful boys I have ever laid my eyes on, an awesome family (even my in-laws...most people can't say that!),the most trust-worthy girlfriends you could ever hope for, a roof over my head, money in my bank account, food in my belly (here I go again), clothes on my back, and good health. I'm one blessed girl. So here we are...the day of giving thanks. The day of thankfulness, gratitude, and appreciation to God, family and friends.

What are you thankful for today?

I'm thankful for...

Dump Truck Fun

This dump truck provides a lot of entertainment. Not only does it hold and dump lots of fun things, the boys love to ride it around the house. And every time I turn around Carter has crawled in the back it and just sits there.

Cute Alert!

Warning: this might be a little bit too much cuteness for you.

Pre-Thanksgiving Weight Loss Plan

There's nothing more effective than a good ol' family stomach bug to shed off a few pounds. Carter threw up twice on Saturday (the first time at church - sorry church volunteers, I know you didn't sign up for that!). It hit Christopher's other end on Sunday (but only once so don't feel sorry for him). Then Landon woke up Monday morning at 4am throwing up. He continued to throw up every 15-20 minutes until 7am...Mommy in the bed with him with one hand on the trash can ready to launch it under his chin at the first sign of gagging, meanwhile soaking up the airborne germs. I've never seen a kid throw up upside down. No joke. His head was in the trash can and he kicked his legs up when he heaved. He also threw in some squirts for good measure. Then there's lucky me...6am until 1pm (7 hours) debating whether to sit or kneel every 20 minutes. Landon stayed home to take care of me. While I was throwing up he said to me "Glad it's not me"!!! Stinker.

Cuttin' Up

On the weekends, Landon wakes up around 7. We take him downstairs and get him settled with breakfast and cartoons, and we slip back upstairs to snooze until the little one wakes up.

This is the conversation Landon and I had this past weekend after I came back downstairs...

L: Ummm Mommy, I cut my sock.
K: What do you mean you cut your sock?
L: I just cut it.
K: With what?
L: My scissors.
K: Show them to me.

Needless to say, Landon paid me 4 of his quarters out of his piggy bank.

Potty Words...& I ain't talking "I gotta go peepee"

We've had our 2nd run-in with bad language this week (and ever). I was sitting on the living room floor last night and Landon walked up to me and said "if you don't get off of that cot, your a$$ is gonna burn". I looked at Christopher, he looked at me. He said it clear as a bell. We knew we heard him right but were in disbelief. We asked him to repeat himself and again we heard "if you don't get off of that cot, your a$$ is gonna burn". He doesn't hear words like that from us so we asked where he heard that from. A friend at school. We explained to Landon that word is a potty word. He didn't know that it is a potty word and was genuinely upset that he disappointed us and knew it was wrong. So we told him now that he knows, he will be in big trouble if he uses it again. I also told him about my run-ins with soap in the mouth...

It's so hard trying to raise your child with the values and principals that you want to instill when they are around so many different children from so many different lifestyles, backgrounds, upbringings, beliefs, etc. I know I can't control other children and what they say or do, so I've got to use that as an example to Landon and Carter and teach them how we handle ourselves.

But seriously, I'd love to make that parent's "a$$ burn" - I mean who says that to a 4 year old? Who says that to anyone?

I'm Feeling Lucky

Today is going to be a good day! I won a $75 gift certificate over at The Vintage Pearl. I have been eyeing their necklaces for quite sometime, and leaving their webpage open on Christopher's computer as a hint...and I won a gift certificate! Yay!

Here's what I have my eye on (I'm going to let Christopher pick and surprise me). These may potentially be in the order that I love them...

Maybe I should pick up a lottery ticket on the way home today...

Pack Rat

Landon is notorious for filling his pockets with things...rocks and playground mulch mostly. Here's what I emptied out of his coat pocket the other day when doing laundry:
  • a handful of mulch
  • 1 rock
  • 3 acorns
  • opened pink paper clip
  • white pompom
  • foam square
  • chunk of clay

These Boots Are Made For Walking

Who Doesn't Love That Chocolate-Covered PB Goodness?

Last night Carter was playing in the kitchen while I was cooking. He got into his brother's Halloween candy stash and the next thing I know he is pulling something out of his mouth. When I get closer, I realize it was a Reese cup wrapper. Only the wrapper. He was all chocolately smiles...

Spaghetti Night

Full Load

While I was cooking supper last night, the boys were in the living room (Landon watching TV and Carter playing). I heard Carter whine a few times like he does when he wants something so I went in to see what he wanted. I found him like this...

5 plus 3 equals 8 (chomp!)

Carter cut 3 more teeth this past weekend (2 at the top and 1 at the bottom)! Three at once! Yikes! Can we say Mr. Grumpy Pants? I would be too.

What'd You Say?!?!

As of this weekend, we haven't come across any bad language incidents in our house. That all changed when Landon walked up to Christopher, laughing, and called him an idiot. Yes, an idiot. Christopher and I looked at each other like "did he really just say what I think he said?". Christopher asked him to repeat himself. Landon did so, already knowing that he was in trouble. I know exactly where he got it from. He watches Toy Story (a lot) and Woody uses the word idiot (really Disney, come on - why do you always have to throw in one word that ruins the whole thing?). Christopher explained to him what that word meant and how it makes people feel. Poor little guy didn't really know what he was saying, but hopefully now he understands and we won't hear that word again.

Chatterbox

I've been told I talk a lot. I mean, I don't really think so. But whatever. Needless to say, Landon comes by it honestly. Here's a conversation we had that made me laugh so hard.

K: So I heard you didn't take a nap today at school? What did you do while your friends were sleeping?
L: I talked.
K: To who?
L: To Bryce, but then he fell asleep so I talked to myself.

Gracie's 8th Birthday Party

My niece, Gracie, has her 8th birthday party on Sunday.

The cousins always have a great time together. I don't have any pictures of Landon and Adam...they were too busy playing in secret hide-out spots. Carter and Jeter are getting a little better together...Carter doesn't cry every time Jeter comes close. lol Here's Jeter caught on camera stealing snacks.

I just don't have words for how gorgeous my "baby" niece, Elizabeth, is.

And my sweet Carter Bear

A Country Wedding

Christopher's friend since 1st grade, Edwin, got married last Saturday. We headed up to VA for the festivities, with our little party animals in tow. My boys were looking mighty sharp!

It was a gorgeous country wedding and reception.

Christopher caught up with a few of his good school buddies.

Landon really wanted the garter. The big guy behind him, Jeremy, wasn't quite ready to accept the responsibility of the garter so as soon as he caught it, he gave it immediately to Landon.

Landon is just like his mama...he danced from the first song of the night until the last! When he wasn't dancing with his mama, he found some cute little girl to chase around and dance with!

Finally!

It took 16 months...but FINALLY my Carter Bear has decided to walk!!! Yay!

Trick-or-Treat

Our passe hit the streets Halloween night in search for some good Halloween candy. Cousin Matt was down from DC. Beth, Mike and Olive came over. And Amy and Landon's BFF, Clark joined us too.

Landon and Clark were a trip trick-or-treating. They practically beat people's doors down, had the neighbor's describe their candy offerings and had many conversations with them as well. A few of Landon's comments as soon as our neighbors would answer the door (instead of a trick-or-treat): "we got an apple over there", "what a colorful bowl", "well, I'm really Landon and he's Clark (in response to 'oh, you're Ironman and you're Buzz Lightyear'). They racked up on some candy. Mommy had to confiscate a few choking hazards...like a dark chocolate Mounds (sshhh...let's keep that our little secret).

My sock monkey got his first taste of a sucker. He was not too happy with me when I had to take it away.

Just plain cute (and on a major sugar high)...

And for some juvenile reason, I decided to teach Landon the improper trick-or-treat song. He's been running around for 2 days singing "if you don't, I don't care, I'll pull down your underwear." tee-hee
