Day Hiking

We've almost caught up with Wrenn's weekly updates, but I've had to take a short break due to a crazy schedule at work and home.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! We hope to get back over to our local state park for more hiking like last weekend.

Wrenn - Week 13

I sadly returned to work this week, but not really. I worked on Monday, then we had a small snowstorm on Tuesday morning and a bigger one on Wednesday night/Thursday morning that shut schools down for the rest of the week. I ran by work on Monday night, with all 3 kiddos, and grabbed my work laptop so I was able to work from home the rest of the week. With 3 kids. Mostly by myself. The nanny was able to come over a few days here and there, and Christopher stayed home on Thursday.

Wrenn enjoyed her first snow. The boys built a "snow Wrenn" and a snow man, and a throne of snow for Queen Wrenn. They also built a fort at a neighbor's house.

She sat in her Bumbo for the first time this week, Landon gave her a bottle (she took it with no issues), and we took her 3 month pictures!

She's sleeping right through the vacuuming - she's used to a loud house

Who's that cute girl in the mirror?

When she laughs, she covers her eyes like this. ::swoon::

There's a reason Landon came first

Wrenn- Week 12

I hate bottles!
Week 12 was a challenging and stressful week. It was my last week at home before returning to work and the nanny was supposed to start and spend the week with us to learn the routine.

Mother Nature and Wrenn had different ideas. We had a bad ice storm that Monday that caused school to release early and cancel the reset of the week. We didn't have a single routine day that entire week, and the nanny wasn't able to come every day or had to come in late or leave early because of the road conditions.

And on top of all of that, Wrenn decided that she didn't want a bottle (remember that time she took it and made me think she was good to go? Ha!). Carter didn't take his bottles for the first 3 weeks at daycare and I was scared we were in the same predicament. The nanny was super patient with her and would sit with her for a long time trying and singing and talking to her. Wrenn would just scream and scream and scream. And I would sit on the other end of the monitor with tears in my eyes.

We tried different bottles, different temperatures, milk freshly-pumped and at body temp, different feeding positions, different people giving her the bottle (except for me), quiet areas, music, etc. etc. etc. As the week went on, we had a few small wins - her taking a few ounces from the bottle from her daddy after about 30 minutes of trying. Finally, I decided to try to give her the bottle. I had always heard for the mom not to give it as they will likely refuse since the real thing is right there. She took it from me. No issues.

On Thursday of week 12, I started googling and found an article where the dad would wear his wife's bathrobe when feeding the baby. While I was reading this, Christopher was upstairs unsuccessfully trying to give her a bottle. I grabbed my robe and tucked it under her head, over his shoulder. She took it right away. It blew both of our minds. The next day, when the weather allowed, we tried the same thing with the nanny and it worked.

The baby just wanted to smell her mama while eating!!!

We used the robe for another week or so but we've been able to stop using it. And we've had no issues since!

And a funny quote by Carter - "Can you get me some cereal, then put that milk from your boobies in it?"

Tummy time!

Wrenn - Week 11 or The Week of Hearts

Wrenn's 11th week fell on Valentine's week so we dubbed it the "Week of Hearts." How had I accumulated so many heart outfits?

Every day when I would take a shower, I'd lay Wrenn on the bathroom floor (on a blanket) with toys and music. Hokie would always stand guard at the door. I love that old man. We got in a walk on the greenway on an unseasonably warm day. And of course, lots of snuggles.

Rocker chick!

Wrenn was asleep in the swing. I looked at my phone for a few minutes, then looked back at her to find her like this.

Wrenn - Week 10

Wrenn had her first set of shots at her 2-month check-up. The poor thing pretty much slept the rest of the day. Her 2-month stats were:

Weight:  12 lbs, 4 oz (70%)
Length:  22.5 in (46%)
Head Circumference:  39.5 cm (82%)

She also started wearing some 3-6 month clothes this week!

She stayed in the church nursery for the first time and started noticing her new little furry friend around the house. Hokie always makes her laugh.

Have you noticed yet that I take a lot of pictures of her sleeping? I can't resist. She looks so angelic.

After shots - pobrecita

Gotta look extra cute for church!

I realized how much animal print clothing I put this baby in!

Wrenn - Week 9

Wrenn sure is one lucky girl to have two big brothers that constantly love and dote on her. They like to hold her, give her toys, and make her laugh by being super silly (which always works). Landon carries her around and gives her a bottle too. The boys are working on a new language that apparently only them and Wrenn understand.

Carter told me, "I want to bite her so bad because I love her so good!"

I finally put Wrenn in her crib in her room for naps and bedtime. She had been staying in a pack & play in our room. She had a few rough nights while she got adjusted to the new space, but sorted that out pretty quickly.

During week 9, I heard Wrenn's first audible giggle. It was absolutely precious.

I finally remembered to use my Stickie Bellies to take her 2 month picture. Wonder if I will remember every month through November?

First time in her crib!
