Peace Offering

Christopher has been getting on me about my lack of blogging lately. Sorry everyone! Honestly, I don't have many pictures on the camera to post but I grabbed a few off of my phone that I will post over the next few days. Do pictures of really cute boys make up for my slackness?

Ready, Aim, Attack!

I pulled into the driveway last night, met by Christopher and Landon, both standing and at the ready with their bow and arrow (suction cup ones). They were smiling ear to ear when they launched them simultaneously at my car.

Landon's 5 Year Check-up

Landon visited his pediatrician and allergy/asthma specialist for his 5 year check-ups.

At the ped, his stats were:

Weight: 44.2 lbs. (75%)
Height: 43 1/4" (60%)
BP: 90/55

They tested his vision, hearing, smarts - all came out fine. The doctor also completed his Kindergarten physical (T minus 2 months!!!!).

Landon has been on Zyrtec (for allergies) and Singulair (for wheezing) since he was about 18 months. He hasn't had a wheezing episode since he was 3 and we are finally able to take him off of Singulair. Yay! They did allergy tests on him again, and all of his allergies have resolved except for his dust mite allergy, which is minor. If you've been around Landon for 10 minutes (or even listened closely to some videos where he is in the background), Landon clears his throat very frequently. However, he does it when he's concentrating hard on something, like TV or computer games, and even in his sleep. Zrytec keeps it under control. Because of this, his allergy/asthma doctor thinks it is legit and not a habit (I think that it is legit but he may do it more frequently than needed because he is used to doing it), and caused by his dust mite allergy. The doctor decided to keep him on Zyrtec. He has been back on that for about 2 weeks, however, he is still clearing his throat. Now I am wondering if it was a combo of the Zyrtec and Singulair that was helping him. I will give it another week or so and call the doctor back if it continues.

Our biggest issue with Landon was bedwetting. We've been through phases where he wets the bed every single night, and phases where he can stay dry for a week at a time. Changing and washing sheets every day is a pain! We had gotten back to the point where he had to wear pull-ups at night, which really embarrassed Landon. When we stopped his medicine before his allergy/asthma appointment, he stopped wetting the bed. A-ha! It's the medicine. I was nervous when putting him back on the Zyrtec, but knock on wood, he has been dry every night (and it's been over 2 weeks). It must have been a side effect of the Singulair. Glad to get that straightened out.

Bookworm or Hoarder?

I have mentioned before how much Landon (and Carter too, for that matter) love books. They can sit and look at books for a long period of time (which is very abnormal for my two energetic boys).

Landon has his own library card. I take him to the library and let him get the books he wants, but I don't really monitor how many he has. I logged into his account today to renew his library books and saw how many he has checked out!

Food For Thought

When you're sitting there feeling sorry for yourself and hating on your life, think to yourself: I could be the one to have to open and process stool samples.

Just sayin'.

Rough Patch

It has been a rough few days for me.

*Warning: this post discusses gross bodily fluids. You have been warned.*

On Saturday (while Christopher was in CA and my niece , Gracie was over so I was alone with 3 kids), I had diarrhea for 8 hours (I'm talking in the bathroom every 10-15 minutes for the first 5 hours. BTW, diaper cream rocks - don't knock it til you try it. Desperate times call for desperate measures). I wanted to die. Sunday morning I had two more incidents but started feeling a little better. Monday night I threw up. Felt good on Tuesday. Felt GREAT on Wednesday...until of course, it was time for Landon's graduation. I picked the boys up from daycare and took them to McD's for supper before graduation. We sat down and I had to run to the bathroom where I had diarrhea and vomiting (simultaneously-ugh) for about 20 minutes. Luckily, Christopher's plane had just landed so he was able to take Landon to his graduation, but I had to go home. I missed my baby's very first organized event. Many tears have been shed over missing that. It has been added to my catalog of worst mother moments ever. (Christopher did take lots of pictures and videos.)

In discussing with Christopher, I realized that I have been having random issues over the past few months where I am fine, then feel sick and vomit.

I went to the doctor yesterday. They ruled out pregnancy (I know you've been thinking that since you began reading this). They also x-rayed my bowels to make sure I didn't have an obstruction. They drew blood to check for ulcers, infections, liver function, Crohn's Disease, etc. I should hear back from that on Monday. Also, I have to get a stool sample at home and bring in for more bacterial testing (fun, fun).

If all of that comes out okay, they will ultrasound my gallbladder. And if that's okay, they will send me to a GI for a scope to look at things.

Send prayers my way. I just want to feel normal again and not miss things in life because I get sick all of a sudden.

Too Much Fun!

My niece, Gracie, stayed the weekend with us. After staying up late, going to Landon's football game and swimming at the pool, her and Landon were exhausted. They didn't make it past the first 5 minutes of the movie!

They rested up so that they could get in a few Kinect games.

Spanish Lessons with Landon

Tonight the boys and I were watching Thomas the Train. One of the trains exclaimed, "Bust my bumpers!". Landon looked at me and said, "That means 'engine broke' in Spanish."

BTW, my smart little Spanish-translating boy GRADUATES from Preschool tomorrow complete with a cap & gown! Tears will be shed, I can promise you!

Accountability

Landon plays flag football in a non-competitive league where they give 2 awards each week to the two team members that demonstrated the core value of the week (e.g. enthusiasm, good sportsmanship). However, each player will eventually get a medal. Even knowing this, I beamed with pride when they gave Landon the award for accountability this past weekend. Yes, they checked his name off of the roster for an award given. But man was he excited, and that warmed this mama's heart. He wore that award around his neck the past two days with so much pride.

After the game he said to me "I knew I was going to win that award!". When I asked how he knew, he replied, "I just thought it.".

This Moment

Blue eyes that light up and sparkle, golden hair kissed by the sun, skin so new and soft, a spirit so wild and free and a melodious laugh. Taking in the world, the smells, the colors, the sounds. I want to capture moments like this in a bottle so that I can open it in years to come to soak it up over and over again.

Rocker Boys

The boys' hair was sticky the other day from sunscreen so I gave them each a mohawk. They look so cool, don't they?

Update on Landon

After sending him to bed last night with a fever of 101, I went in to check on him a few hours later to find him soaking wet. His hair, clothes, pillow and sheets were all drenched. The fever finally broke! Yay! He woke up this morning good as new. At least this was a quick one.

Now cross your fingers that Carter doesn't get it (especially since I will be a single mom Saturday-Wednesday).

Cherries!

Landon helped me pit (by hand!) 8 cups of sour cherries. Ya'll, that's a lot of cherries!

Under the Weather

I took Landon to the doctor yesterday around 4:00 for his 5 year check-up (post about that coming soon, but all was well). After the doctor, we visited the library, picked up pizza and went home to eat. All was good. Around 7:00, I sat on the couch with Landon and Carter reading books when Landon said that his head hurt. He commented on his head hurting 15 minutes later. About 30 minutes later when going upstairs to go to bed, he asked Christopher if he would give him a piggy back ride because he didn't feel like walking up the stairs. He was on fire! Out of nowhere, he started running a fever of 100 with no other symptoms.

I stayed home with him today where he maintained a fever between 99-100 even with Tylenol. It finally broke late afternoon and he was definitely feeling better. At bedtime, I took his temp again and it was back up to 101!

Grrrrrr. What is this?

Daily Dose of Carter Cuteness

OMG...look at that face!

Don't forget to pack me!

He will sit on his Elmo potty because that means he gets to wash his hands! He would wash his hands all day if I let him...and gets quite mad when I tell him we are done with the hand-washing!

My wild and crazy man!

Hot, Hot, Hot!

Here's how the Bagleys have been dealing with the 90-degree temps down here in North Carolina.

Ice cream from the ice cream truck...
