OBX '14

This year, we decided to spend our week-long beach trip in the Outer Banks. This is the first time we've been to OBX and absolutely loved it. We decided to stay south of all the OBX craziness (aka TRAFFIC) and stayed in Waves. Waves is a small little town with a DQ, a tiny market, and not much else except the ocean. Perfection!

We stayed in a perfect little house right on the beach. Grandma and Grandpa Bagley and well as the Wrights stayed with us. Christopher's cousins Matt & Bekah, along with their families, stayed two houses down. The 5 bigger kids (ages 3, 4, 5, 6 & 8) had so much fun playing in the ocean and sand. And baby Kaileigh (3 months) got a lot of snuggling. :)

We pretty much spent every day like this:
9ish: Get up, eat breakfast, and get ready for the beach
A lot of the day: Beach time (sometimes coming in for lunch and sometimes eating on the beach, sometimes coming in for naps, sometimes skipping, and sometimes napping on the beach)
5/6ish: Coming in, showering, eating dinner in the house (we went out to eat one night)
After dinner: Ice cream and late bedtimes
Repeat.

The weather was really nice, low 80s with a nice breeze. We had a light shower one afternoon which we stayed under the cabana for and a huge thunderstorm (with water spouts!) another afternoon.

Packed up and ready to go!

Campfires, hermit crabs, fishing, and lots of beach fun

On our way back home, we made a quick pit stop by the Nights in Rodanthe house. I have already put in a request with Christopher to actually stay there. We also stopped by the Bodie Island lighthouse. The boys loved climbing their very first lighthouse and had a special "backstage" tour by the ranger.

See my boys up there at the very top! (Mama decided not to climb this time.)
