Wrenn - Week 8

Wrenn started snuggling with blankies by week 8. She will pull the blankie up close to her face and nuzzle it when falling alseep. It's absolutely precious.

By this point, you might have also noticed that she likes to sleep with her pinky out a lot. This always cracked me up. She's so proper.

And my sweet girl gave out smiles often. Swoon.

The boys both went to a daycare center from 12 weeks until they started K. We had planned on doing the same for Wrenn, but after talking to a few friends and crunching some numbers, we realized we could hire a (live-out) nanny cheaper than what we would pay for daycare plus before and after school care for the boys. So I went on care.com and began a nanny search. It was very overwhelming and scary. I had many applicants. In one week, I narrowed it down to a few, chatted with references, and interviewed one. After interviewing Lindy, we knew she was the nanny for us. She is a conservative Christian girl with a very big heart. She felt so perfect for our family. She's nannied before (not for infants though) and also homeschooled for a missionary family in the Phillipines. We offered her the position, she went home and prayed about it, and accepted the next day!

Blurry, but too cute of a face not to share

Pinky out like a proper lady

My most favorite picture of her - love that face (she was looking up at her mama)

Wrenn - Week 7

The little stinker took her first bottle, without many issues, at 7 weeks. Later, we learned that she was just playing us and was going to turn into quite the diva. More on that later.

So pretty much week 7 consisted of her looking cute, wearing a lot of animal print outfits (I have issues), and snuggling with her mama.

Wrenn - Week 6

(I posted this yesterday as week 5, but actually this is week 6 - oops! Going to repost week 5 so check back a day.)

At 6 weeks old, Wrenn was doing pretty good sleeping at nighttime. I got her down to an 8:00 bedtime (praise God!) and she'd typically sleep until around 4ish. I'd nurse her and she'd go back to sleep (very easily) until around 7, I'd nurse her and she'd go back to sleep until around 10. We did a lot of morning snoozing during this time. Mornings in bed with her in a quiet house was my favorite time of the day.

I attempted using a Moby wrap but after many tears and much sweating decided to return it. I also tried the Ergo but it just wasn't comfy for me. I am sticking with my Baby Bjourn from 2006, although it's said not to be as ergo-friendly for the baby.

Wrenn also received her first blue box from Tiffany & Co - a sweet little spoon from cousins Tammy & John (thanks!!!). What a darling keepsake.

And that reminds me, I didn't write thank you notes for Christmas gifts. Oops! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

Wrenn - Week 5 & Happy New Year!

At 5 weeks old, we rang in the new year. Happy 2015!

I started figuring out this mom of 3 thing. For example, I'd nurse Wrenn while spinning the spinner thingie for a game of Twister with the boys. Wearing the baby while helping with homework. Laying the baby in the hallway with music and toys outside of the bathroom door while I bathed the boys. The boys have been super flexible as well.

Wrenn was feeling much better by this point and spent the week growing and looking super cute!

That squishy face! Swoon!

This is pretty much the only picture you will see with a paci in her mouth. She can't figure out how to keep them in and much prefers sucking on her fingers and fist. She's gotten her thumb in maybe twice.

Wrenn - Week 4 & Christmas

Wrenn's 4th week was also Christmas week. It was very busy in our house trying to prepare for the holidays and the boys being out of school. In addition, the boys had both been feeling a tad bit under the weather with the sniffles and low-grade temps (which I, of course, was freaked out over Wrenn getting).

Christmas Eve, we did the usual - church, Mexican dinner, and driving around to look at lights. Beth, Mike, Olive, Aunt Elaine, and Uncle Craig joined us.

While Miss Wrenn slept through most of her very first Christmas morning, the boys had a blast. They were so excited about their gifts, but mainly about their watches and new tennis shoes. They were also excited about their scooters and Legos. Christopher and I gave them 2 nice soccer goals as well.

We let the boys get a gift for each other and that had to have been my most favorite part of the morning, watching them open each other's gifts. Carter got Landon Pokemon cards. And Landon got Carter a football and Nerf gun. They were so sweet opening each other's gifts and hugging each other with thankful hearts.

They opened Wrenn's gifts from Santa for her, which were a few little toys like a retro FP Two Tone TV (like I had as a kid) & a musical giraffe. Again, she slept through the whole thing. Typical Bagley.

Christmas was a little drab for me this year. I think I just wasn't able to enjoy it as much with a newborn. Things had been so stressful the previous weeks with trying to finish up the shopping while trying to heal physically and emotionally from her birth. Add lack of sleep and the breastfeeding issues, plus two sick boys. Wowzers! But I kept my eye on the birth of Jesus and let that carry me through this season.

After celebrating at home, we packed up and headed to VA to visit my parents, then Christopher's. The visit at my parent's was different this year too because two of my brother's boys tested positive for the flu so we celebrated in shifts (first us, then my brother and his family came as we left) so we wouldn't expose the baby to the flu.

As always, the Bagley women made homemade pizzas Christmas night for dinner. In all the hustle and bustle, we forgot Wrenn's pack & play so she slept in a laundry basket that night. However, that night turned into an interesting one. Wrenn started getting sick and by Christmas night was so congested, she couldn't breathe so she hardly slept at all. And of course we didn't have a way to clear out her nose so we pretty much spent the night watching her suffer. We packed up and headed home the next morning to be close to our ped. My in-laws were gracious enough to keep the boys in VA through the weekend so we could focus on Wrenn. Within a few days, she was feeling much better - thanks to the NoseFrida  (LOVE that thing!) and LOTS of snuggling.

Christmas Glasses

For Grandma & Grandpa Bagley's Christmas gift from the kids (including my niece, Olive), my SIL, Beth and I made these AWESOME glasses with the kids' handprints. I adore how they turned out.

(Wrenn's is her foot because have you ever tried unballing a newborn's fist?)

We used acrylic paint and got the idea here.
